For Immediate Release: CLM to provide 3D Feature & Vehicle Modeling for JCA Flight Trainer
Fort Rucker, AL — October 20, 2008 — CLM Software has acquired a subcontracting opportunity through CATI Training Systems to serve as the primary developer for 3D terrain features and vehicle moving models for the U.S. Army’s new C-27J “Spartan” Joint Cargo Aircraft Operational Flight Trainer. In addition to the 3D modeling responsibilities, CLM will perform all field research and data collection required to support generation of multiple photo-specific terrain database features. The C-27J Spartan OFT will provide for training of United States Army flight crewmembers and will utilize CATI’s industry-leading X-IG scene generation solution for unparalled rendering performance.
“The C-27J is a mid-range, multifunctional and interoperable aircraft able to perform logistical resupply, MEDEVAC, troop movement, airdrop operations, humanitarian assistance, and homeland security missions for the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. The C-27J will replace the U.S. Army’s C-23 “Sherpa” and portions of the U.S. Army’s C-12 and C-26 fleet. The C-27J will augment the U.S. Air Force’s existing fleet of intra-theater airlifters. The aircraft will play a key role in providing responsive aerial sustainment and critical re-supply support for the maneuver force to maintain operational momentum.” — official L3 press release.
